 Privacy Policy for SmartContacts AI

Last updated: September 2026

SmartContacts AI ("the App") is developed to help you clean, organize, and protect your address book. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App accesses, how it is used, and what is never collected.

1. Contacts Data

The App requests access to your Contacts to display, organize, detect duplicates in, and let you edit your address book. All contact processing — duplicate detection, health scoring, phone number normalization, smart cleanup — happens entirely on your device. Your contacts are never uploaded to our servers or any third party; we do not operate a server that stores your contacts at all.

If you choose to export a backup (VCF/CSV) or share a contact, that action is initiated by you and goes only to the destination you select (e.g., Files, Mail, AirDrop).

2. Camera and Photo Library

The App uses your device's camera or photo library, when you choose to scan a business card, to extract text (name, phone, email) using on-device text recognition (Apple's Vision framework). Card images are not uploaded anywhere; recognition happens locally.

3. Face ID

If you enable App Lock, the App uses Face ID / Touch ID (via Apple's LocalAuthentication framework) to protect access to the App. Biometric data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.

4. Advertising and the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) Permission

The App displays ads served by Google AdMob to support the free version. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to show more relevant ads, which is why the App requests permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. You can allow or deny this at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they may be less personalized.

We use Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to collect your advertising consent choices (e.g., under GDPR) before ads are personalized.

5. Apple Watch Companion App

If you use the SmartContacts AI Watch app, a lightweight summary (favorites, frequent contacts, health score) is synced directly from your iPhone to your paired Apple Watch using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. This data stays between your own devices and is never sent to our servers.

6. In-App Purchases

Premium purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not receive or store your payment information.

7. Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information — the App does not require account creation. We do not sell your data to anyone.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
